Elafonisi
Kríti (Crete)
Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:
Legend has it that the sands of Elafonisi were turned red from the blood of Greek women and children slaughtered by marauding Turks. Today, this small peninsula is a nature reserve and one of the most beautiful and popular beaches in the west of the island. The crystal-clear, 200m standing-depth water isn't just a feast for the eyes, it's also a perfect freestyle and training arena. Loads of swimmers in summer when designated surf zones keep the peace, although it's not a party beach. Winter's much lonelier, sometimes with good waves.
