Amble is Northumberland's favoured storm beach as Coquet Island and its reefs iron out the fiercest conditions. Sailable in a broad range of wind directions it offers anything from chop to big waves. Heaving rips and shoredump at high tide ensure it's best from mid-tide down, while the tight launch beneath sand-dunes tends not to attract kiters.
