Anyone less than expert should launch from Audierne’s protected sandy beach, where even beginners can relax. When there's swell, a few waves break over a rock shelf at high tide by 'La Petite Gamelle’ lighthouse 200m offshore. A nautical mile further out, you shouldn't really venture to the second break at 'Grande Gamelle’ reef without some company.
