Bridlington

Bang in the middle of Bridlington’s huge sandy bay, 'Fraisthorpe’ is a popular spot. Below mid-tide the water's shallow, but more importantly the low-lying land delivers this coastline's cleanest wind. Offshore generally means mirror-flat, whereas onshore easterlies are significantly rougher. Throughout the tide, mind the submerged concrete war defences in the shallows. Further north near the golf course, north-westerly wind and a big swell can deliver full-on down-the-line waveriding. It doesn’t work that often, but when it does it’s sublime. Expect fierce shorebreak, strong currents, and chilly winds though – never ride alone, and pack plenty of warm clothes!
