Brutal Beach lives up to its name in strong west to north-westerly wind. Steep ramps make for monster jumps, while frontside riding’s difficult. Conditions are particularly extreme in the south of the bay, especially when you get into the wind buffer. The further north you launch, the smaller the waves. Compared to nearby spots, the wind arrives later at Brutal Beach and finishes earlier too. The little rocky breakwaters you need to tack upwind of are a pain.
