Arenal’s urban beach, just a stone’s throw from the infamous 'Ballermann’ party district, is home to Palma’s locals. Even in summer, when the beach is overflowing with parasols and sunburnt tourists, plenty of kiters make good use of their lunch-break to exploit the thermal here (which delivers Force 3-4 cross-onshore wind almost every day). If the breeze is too weak, the island's coolest beach club awaits at Puro just beyond the marina. In winter, passing low-pressure systems turn this freeride venue into a wave spot. South-east to south-westerly Force 6 or more delivers a beach-break that can hit 3m in enough wind. The best launch is from the slipway by the marina.
