Cabo Mondego is a European Mavericks, in that you can't really recommend it to anyone but spectators. Nortada and swell generates amazingly clean mountains of water, but the riding comes at a price. First, there's only one launch from a narrow, rock-strewn beach beneath cliffs in the headland's wind-shadow. Then it's a tough beat upwind against the current to the break, where any riding mistakes will land you amongst yet more rocks. "Boa sorte!"
