Calambrone is one of Tuscany’s most popular spots, ironically not despite but because of its poor water quality! Swimming isn't allowed north of the Livorno's industrial area for health reasons, which means pleanty of room on the water in summer. Thanks to the river delta’s flat plains, all wind directions blow in cleanly. Flat water in offshore winds while onshore offers fledgling wavesailors a gentle introduction. The further north you ride, the better the waves.
