Club Olympique, Calvi

In north-westerly, thermal summer north-north-easterly, and south-westerly Libeccio wind, try Plage du Club Olympique. The wind's often gusty, but the standing-depth area and flat water are ideal for beginners – away from the breakwaters. It gets crowded in summertime, kiting is only tolerated from mid-September. To the east, the wind blows even stronger at 'Plage de la Légion'. This end of the beach is by the military zone, which is why you have to park at Club Olympique and walk (or ride) the last 800m. South-westerly isn't as gusty here and even delivers some waves. There are fewer swimmers too, so even in summer you’re allowed to kite.
