Dabki Ostsee

West Pomerania

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

South-west of the medieval city of Darlowo ('Rügenwalde' until 1945, famed for its sausages) are the shallow freshwater lakes of Bukowo and Jamno where novices find sheltered conditions for learning and improving (windsurfers need a weed fin in summer though). A narrow 200m sandbar separates them from the Baltic Sea, where strong winds create waves. The situation is very similar further south at 'Lazy' and 'Mielno' – albeit with narrowly spaced groynes. But at least they offer a little more charm than the sobering views of Dabki's physical rehab centre! By no means a surf highlight, although the sandy coast nestles below idyllic hilly countryside. Expect hellish high-season traffic on the country roads though – just two hours from the German border, tourists appreciate the lower prices around here.
