To suit your mood, you've got two options here: a swimming beach with cafés and facilities, or a wild beach in 'Hohenhain'. Both have nice sandy shorelines with rocky launches in front of the thick Buchenwald Forest. They work best in cross to cross-onshore (at most). While the waves are generally small, they do get bigger in strong east to north-easterlies.
