Dakhla Camps

Dakhla & Sahara Occidental

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

Brilliant white sand, warm sparkling turquoise water and steady wind year-round: the mainly standing-depth lagoon in Dakhla Bay is a dream come true for freeriders, freestylers and beginners too. There are four popular flat-water launches to choose from. The first is at 'Dakhla Camps', where alongside the tents and huts you can now also find plush bungalows with hot running water, electricity and internet access. 'PK25’ on the lagoon's western shore is also easily reached by car or campervan. East of the camps, 'Speed Spot' is a low tide speedstrip where offshore wind blows over a steep bank. There are organised 4x4 tours there, or you can ride over via a channel inside Dragon Island. The lagoon is generally rideable throughout the tide, although many places get extremely shallow at low water – it's worth asking the guys from the camps for advice before launching. 'La Duna Blanca’ on the south-eastern shore of Dakhla Bay can also be reached by water, or overland with a 4x4. The wind there is usually a bit stronger than on the lagoon. At high tide you can ride right around the dune, or loft your kite off the summit for a breathtaking leap onto the water.
