Like Knokke, De Haan has a full-strength flavour of belle époque – even the modern buildings aren’t so ugly here! Surfers still need exactly the right wind direction to ensure consistent conditions along this heavily developed seafront though. On good days logo-high sessions are possible; there are no groynes, but hence a strong current, especially at high tide. It’s a bit of a hike in too, as the car has to stay in town.
