Right by the city centre, this broad, sand and shingle beach offers grass for rigging-up on. Conditions are pretty choppy; low tide means a strong current inshore, while high water delivers a shorebreak. Works particularly well in thermal northerlies or north-easterly storms, with waves downwind of the harbour-wall. The kite scene gather at the far west end of the beach.
