Dollymount Kitespot
Dublin
Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:
North of the harbour, just 10 minutes from the city centre, Dollymount is Dublin’s town beach – but at over three miles long, it never gets too crowded. Onshore south-easterlies are needed to build waves; when the wind veers southerly (as it usually does after a low passes through) it blows cross-on. South-westerly is then perfectly cross-shore, and finally westerly blows cross-off. Biggest waves are at high tide, and the best time for long cross-off waverides is when a strong south to south-easterly suddenly veers west. While not super-powerful, it still produces the goods on a regular basis! Windsurfers launch at the St Anne's golf course, the kite zone (which has become perhaps the most popular spot in the whole of Ireland) is further south at the North Bull Wall. At low tide there’s a large standing-depth area and conditions are always easy. "Great craic," as they say around here!
