El Chaparral

El Chaparral, right by the main road east of 'La Cala de Mijas', is framed by rocks on both sides. Málaga locals come here in Poniente, as the westerly blows cross-shore and very consistent. When low-pressure strengthens it in winter, it can produce up to 1m-high jump-ramps. The small beach and nearby rocks ensure it's more for experienced kiters. In summer, sunloungers, sunbathers and beach-bars dominate, but the amenities fulfil your every wish. Except maybe a parking space – as at many beaches in this region, you’ll be lucky to find one after 11am.
