Santander’s second break is very popular with swimmers, hence it's a better choice in spring or autumn. What’s special about this place is that it works in easterly wind directions – 'Laredo' being the only other option. A few rocks at the launch get partially submerged at high tide. If there are too many 'bañistas' on the sands in summer, the tiny beach of 'El Chiqui' at the northern end is an alternate windsurf launch. You’ll need good timing to get out between the rocks at high tide or in waves though.
