There are two excellent kite spots at the viaduct to Île de Noirmoutier. Plage de Fromentine in 'The Bay’ works well at low tide in an easterly wind. Standing-depth turquoise water between the sandbanks, a nice thermal, yet hardly anyone there as kiting is only officially permitted in wintertime. There’s loads of shipping traffic, and at mid-tide the current through the strait gets very strong.
