Corsica

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

Corsicans don’t seem to be able to agree on the spelling of this one. At the 'Davia’ holiday apartments, a gravel track leads from the N197 to 'Djunquidu’ beach-bar, which helped earn “the Hawaii of Corsica” its name. Unfortunately, the spot doesn’t work very often; sometimes not even when a south-westerly rips the sail out of your hands in Algajola. But when it does, the frontside turns on powerful reef waves are magic. To get to enjoy them, there are a few hurdles – starting with parking. The road in belongs to the restaurant proprietor, and he doesn’t much appreciate people parking without dining. Certainly in summer, you’d be wise to carry your kit 300m to the beach from the public car-park. The launch is from a small beach to the left of the restaurant. Made up of rock and sand, it's also infested with sea urchins! Swim the first 100m with the current out of the wind shadow and sail upwind to the break. Getting back is similarly fraught; let a wave wash you as far as possible into the dead zone, then swim against the current. Landing on the main beach isn’t a good idea as the shorebreak really dumps.
