Gökova

Gökova is a hot new kite spot on the Turkish scene – the fact that it's off the beaten track just adds to the appeal. An hour north-west of Dalaman Airport, until recently this area was mainly a destination for Turkish elites to enjoy their solitude in fancy houses. Then a few kiters came, as the long bay forms a perfect funnel for the afternoon breeze. The strongest wind is at the southern end of the beach – the closer you get to shore, the smoother the water. It's mirror-flat inside the small estuary. The beach fringes a nature reserve, so park your vehicle considerately.
