Hell's Mouth
Wales & Bristol Channel
Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:
Arguably the best and most consistent surf spot in North Wales, Hell's Mouth at Porth Neigwl certainly offers some outstanding windsurfing conditions – sailable in most wind directions, it offers a few quality beach-breaks plus a reef-break. Kitesurfing is excellent on westerlies through to southerly when it's no so gusty, but it's still experts-only. The SW-facing shore is open to a good deal of swell: as well as windswell, it picks up groundswell from the Atlantic, so be prepared for fast, powerful waves. A rare east or south-easterly wind is needed for optimal cross or cross-offshore conditions, more common is a gustier cross-off north-westerly. Either way, with an Atlantic groundswell expect waist to logo-high sets peeling clean, glassy and long over the sandbars – riding perfection. The shorebreak takes no prisoners, so you’ll need to be competent to get out through the white water on a big day. Hell's Mouth has a small enough tidal range for it not to factor in session planning. Parking is available behind the dunes – a bit of a trek with windsurfing kit, but the conditions are well worth it.
