Isla del Ciervo
Costa Cálida & Mar Menor
Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:
The beach facing Isla del Ciervo is one of Mar Menor's most popular thermal spots (alongside 'Los Narejos'). Spring and autumn Leveche is very reliable, while south-easterly Jaloque blows weak and gusty in summer. There’s flat, warm water – and if you’re taller than 1.5m you'll be within your depth everywhere. If you’re still walking upwind, it’s better to wear boots (as throughout Mar Menor) to protect your feet from mussel shells. Kiters launch at the sandbar, where it can get crowded on weekends. Windsurfers head a bit further south to 'Hotel Cavanna', where the water isn't quite as shallow. Otherwise there’s everything from schools to 'chiringuitos' up by the sandbar.
