Januskopf, Norderney

This German Windsurf Cup venue is the hub of a friendly Norderney scene. No wonder, as the island’s cleanest waves break between the groynes here – only within two or three hours of high tide, but they’re good for a few bottom-turns. Kiters and windsurfers should avoid sharing a groyne section to give each other some room. If north-westerly’s too onshore, it’s still cross-on at 'Weisse Düne'. As usual for the north coast, Januskopf offers moderate conditions in east to north-easterly wind too. Chilling-out is best done at the surf-café overlooking the spot. Parking nearby is only possible out of season.
