The main beach in the centre of Karwia isn't ideal due to the volume of summer visitors. But a kilometre west there's a chilled wave spot in unspoilt nature – large dunes, fine sand, and just a few sunbathers. Most importantly, good waves that can be ridden sideshore in prevailing westerly winds. It's rarely busy on the water, apart from when conditions are gentle in light summer winds. The currents and shorebreak increase dramatically with the wind. The council has recently approved a complete modernisation of the town, including better beach access and a promenade. Just as long as they don't build a pier.
