Kefalos, Kos

It’s a familiar story at this 2km-long bay on the south coast of Kos; light wind for beginners in the mornings, then full-power freeride afternoons thanks to a thermal afterburner! The cross-offshore Meltemi equally suits a speed record attempt and the latest freestyle contortion. East beyond the next bay, the wind’s more cross-shore on Club Robinson’s private beach. The first 100m is a wobble out, but there’s strong wind and some swell on the outside. In winter, southerly winds turn Kefalos into a Sylt-like onshore break for a handful of local riders.
