Kerguelen

Lorient’s most popular freeride venue works superbly with westerly lows, but also in a summer thermal which is stronger here than anywhere else in the area. Conditions suit the whole family; there’s only any shorebreak at high water in a strong southerly wind. To the east is the swimming zone, to the west the launch in front of Centre Nautique. A few rocks show up towards low tide in the east, but it’s otherwise safe. Lots of boats, sunbathers and beginner windsurfers in summer, although experienced and considerate kiters are tolerated.
