Kimmeridge Bay

English Channel

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

The South Coast's finest wave spot, K-Bay is truly world-class on its day. There are three breaks: 'The Bay' sits centrally, just off the slipway; best in a south or south-westerly but pretty flat at low tide. 'The Ledges' are right under the cliffs to the east, best for jumping in a west to north-westerly and sometimes good for waveriding in a south-easterly with SW swell. 'The Bench' to the west is a superlative right-hander that breaks similar to Ho’okipa. It doesn’t work so often, but can deliver the UK's best port tack down-the-line riding in a north-westerly wind – worth battling upwind to as it’s always windier than inside the bay. The military firing range frequently restricts access though: if the red flag's flying the Bench is a no-go area. Although a few have braved the rocky little launch with a kite, high cliffs and gusty winds mean K-Bay remains a windsurfing stronghold.
