Kornwerderzand is a classy shallow-water spot. Park on the grass bank to launch straight into knee-deep water, then just cross the 10m channel onto a huge sandbar that extends all the way to 'Makkum' – freestyle nirvana! Beginners learn safely here too, making their first body-drags on that same channel. But best of all it's not as busy as elsewhere on the IJsselmeer's east bank, as most visitors don't drive this far up.
