Kühlungsborn West

Over Force 6, Kühlungsborn is among the Baltic’s finest wave venues. The main launch in front of the campsite at 'K-West' is cross-shore from the left in westerly wind – easterlies also work, but with smaller waves. There’s a choice if it goes north-westerly: cross-shore by the marina at 'K-East' or cross-onshore at 'K-West', where there are no groynes. Apart from the tourist tax, Kühlungsborn is charming; the waves break in front of a restored backdrop from the time of the Kaiser. Unless the German Windsurf Cup’s in town, the water’s rarely crowded.
