The headland steers north-westerly wind to cross-shore from the right here. The best waves break over sandbanks about an hour after high tide, although neither as clean nor big as further north – La Potière can offer sanctuary if you're tired after several stormy days. The water retreats a long way at low tide to reveal rocks, rendering the place unsailable. What’s more, the constant southerly current makes for the region's worst chop at the breakwater.
