Las Cucharas

Lanzarote

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

Its versatility plus the fact that Passat blows strongest here make Las Cucharas the island's most popular windsurf spot. Beginners appreciate the protection of the crescent-shaped bay as well as the windsurf schools' safety boats. A rocky breakwater upwind provides especially flat water, but together with the sprawling hotel developments makes for gusty winds on the inside. Get outside to the reef 300m offshore for a clean wave, which can hit mast-high in N swell (best chance in spring). Even on big days it never really gets dangerous as the wave fades out downwind into deep water. But anyone who rides Las Cucharas should know what they’re getting into: bang in the middle of Costa Teguise, the island's tourist stronghold, you’re never alone – year-round. Beach-bars under palm trees with a view of the water and full facilities for your kit should make up for it though.
