Lido di Volano
Emilia-Romagna
Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:
The 170-hectare Volano pine forest is among the area’s most beautiful landscapes and has been declared a nature reserve. But while Romagna's coastal towns have spearheaded the Italian movement to keep their waters unpolluted since the 1980s, the megalopolis of Milan continued discharging untreated sewage into the river Po (and hence the Adriatic Sea) until the year 2000. They finally saw the light and now honour their environmental responsibilities – and early indications are that the Po Estuary's formerly poor water-quality is improving. This can only be good news for Volano, which is otherwise paradise for windsurfers and kiters, especially out of season. The DWA ('Delta Windsurfing Area') club is based at 'Bagno Delfino’; offering showers, kit hire and board storage year-round. Windsurf racers tend to gather at 'Bagno Ristoro’.
