Just as the surfers did long ago, now kiters and windsurfers have also discovered a secret spot on uninhabited Isla de Lobos. In NW swell, a clean wave breaks in the bay beside the island's jetty, offering supreme rides in northwesterly wind (cross-off at 'Flag Beach'). Only at mid to high tide though, as the reef runs dry at low water. The 2.5km crossing from Flag Beach usually is no problem, but don't go alone as if anything happens it's a very long swim home.
