Two beaches either side of town can each produce respectable conditions. Kiters and most windsurfers prefer Town Beach to the west as it's less gusty – and towards low water 'The Cobb' harbour wall can throw up a clean little wave. Unfortunately, summertime tourists seriously limit the available beach space. East Cliff is windsurfed much less often but the rocky reef-break just offshore can work magic with SW swell if you can endure the gusty winds.
