Majanicho

Fuerteventura

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

You’ll need to be out of bed early – and wide awake – to catch classic days at Majanicho in easterly wind. This premium point-break offers endless frontside waverides. Rig and launch on the volcanic rocks, then watch for sea urchins in the water; even purists choose to wear boots here. A strong current means it’s better to stay upwind in the channel when heading out to ensure a safe exit. The current comes in handy after a fall in the waves, pulling strongly downwind out of the impact zone. Most Windsurfers start right in front of the point, kiters prefer to launch downwind in the bay where they find more space. However, the nasty walk over the reef there is even worse. If there are more than a handful of windsurfers out at the peak, kiters with a sense of etiquette ride the waves further upwind. It’s easiest to drive to Majanicho from Lajares – the road to the coast starts at Jürgen Hönscheid's Northshore shop.

SUP Info

Excellent SUP conditions on non windy days. You could try first steps on the board in the little harbour bay (at high tide) or ride mid size waves in the inside which you'll have to share with loads of surfers though. The outside is for experts only and even those have to be careful. There are strong currents draging out to sea and in big swells the channel tends to close out.
