Makkum

Makkum is on the eastern shore of the IJsselmeer, right next to 'De Holle Poarte’ holiday park. There are two routes here from the south: the minor roads look shorter but are very tricky, so the motorway to Bolsward is the best option. Makkum is a very family-friendly venue in lovely surroundings. Everything's relaxed on the water too, as you can stand on the sandy seabed for a few hundred metres. The only wind to avoid is offshore east to south-easterly. On the kiting calendar, it's Makkum from October to April, and 'Kornwerderzand' in summertime.
