Rostock locals have everything they need right on their doorstep. In south-westerly wind, which is offshore on the town beach of 'Warnemünde', they head north-east to Markgrafenheide. Beach life flourishes near the city in summer, but the glorious backdrop of dunes and forests is here all year. Lots of groynes too though!
