Mossies

Dingle Peninsula

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

The locals named this fantastic reef-break after the farmer who lives on the overlooking cliff – although given the quality of this break, they might well have named it after any superstar of our sports. On a good day the waves peel for up to 300m, often reaching mast-high (up to 6m in a huge winter swell), and Mossies promises world-class down-the-line riding on clean faces. Hawaiian waterman Robby Naish famously observed: “It’s just like Ho’okipa, but without the crowds”. At low water the reef exposes, so Mossies is only really 'safe’ two or three hours either side of high tide (launch further downwind to avoid the rocks). After a decent session, it’s customary to embark on another kind of session at nearby Spillane’s bar; second home to many a Brandon Bay regular.
