Murtosa

An ideal standing-depth venue for all levels, Murtosa is one of the most popular kite spots in Aveiro Lagoon. Surf-shoes might be wise as the slippery seabed is covered in mussels and it’s only ankle deep in places at low tide. Launch near the road at high tide, but be very careful in westerlies as there's a power cable just downwind. The wind’s thermally strengthened in summer, so pack small kites. Around the headland, you can get on the water west of the marina at 'Bico' in southerly winter winds, which blow onshore. There are slight tidal currents at both spots.
