Newburgh

Newburgh is one of the most popular spots around Aberdeen. The flat water of the Ythan Estuary draws intermediates and freestylers, plus it's often a good call when the wind's so strong that open water is too fierce and safety becomes an issue. Easy parking right at the water's edge, just off the main road – what more could you want? Unfortunately, the estuary can suffer from weed in high summer. And check the tides as it only works 2-3 hours either side of high, when the whole sandy estuary surrounding the deep river channel is standing-depth.
