Best in south-westerlies, Newton is a safe, friendly spot with bump-and-jump conditions and no rip. At low tide the waves are better on the reef upwind towards the point. Or in a south-easterly with good swell, there can be decent wavesailing in the rivermouth on the far side of the bay at Ogmore-by-Sea.
