Old Hunstanton

This popular west-facing beach suits prevailing south-westerly winds, although with so little fetch, conditions tend to be flat. Low water is great for freestyle on the lagoon, mid-tide is shallow and choppier, but high can be a problem as the water washes against 4m high sea defences between big old wooden breakwaters – not always an issue for windsurfers, but nothing but trouble for kiters! High tide is often better at 'Old Hunstanton' where there's no sea wall, and the flat, sandy beach can throw up steeper jump-ramps.
