Here's a great alternative if it's too onshore or blown-out at the Witterings. Pagham's south-east facing beach means that south-west is cross-shore, and there's some great frontside waveriding to be had at mid-tide with a big swell. Low usually exposes the sandbank, while the shorebreak seriously picks up at high water. Local issues have forced the closure of the popular sand-spit car-park, so launch from the yacht club and ride up to the point instead.
