Saint-Nazaire’s city spot right in the mouth of the River Loire offers the strongest thermal around. The beach doesn't present so much room to launch and land a kite though, and it's partially in a wind shadow. The water's flat inshore, with a lot of chop for jumping further out. The current is strong so it’s best sailed against the wind – ride westerlies on an ebb tide, easterlies in flood. And joking aside, keep an eye on the container ships.
