Plage du Cavaou

There’s a big shallow area off this long sandy beach. Offshore Mistral thunders down the Rhône Delta and out to sea at full force in Fos – it might be a little gusty, but it’s several knots stronger than anywhere nearby. The flat water does smell a bit oily, but it's crying out for speed runs and slalom sessions. South-easterly reveals an alter-ego; a gentle beach-break of up to 2m and cross-on wind offer quality jump sessions. Plus summertime south-westerly thermals blow 10-15 knots. Kiting's possible here with the usual restrictions.
