With a fantastic backdrop of turquoise water and reddish sand, Porto Ferro gets big waves in westerly winds – although onshore conditions don’t make for an ideal break. Surfers love it though. It’s great with a kite or sail in easterly winds: open-sea blasting in front of breathtaking scenery, complete with flying fish! But you’d better pack a floaty board: the offshore wind’s amazingly consistent, yet it can die off very suddenly.
