Prora is another of Rügen's easterly wind breaks. It's not suitable for wave newcomers when it really starts to blow – strong northerlies can produce super-sized port tack, although that is rare. Sunbathers swarm here in summer, so kiting’s only viable in the evenings. And of course, parking has to be paid for. The kilometre of tower-blocks behind the dunes are none too pretty, although the beach is still nice.
