Razo-Baldaio

Long Playa de Baldaio lies inside a protected nature reserve east of the village of Razo de Costa. Big waves, cross-onshore north-easterly winds and extreme currents are a real test of skill. Winter south-westerly gets even bigger and becomes barely controllable combined with the strong current. There’s distinct localism at the main peak, it’s better to ride the breaks further to the right. Kiters also like to hop over to the lagoon behind the beach, which is deep enough at high tide – that's two hours later than on the ocean-facing coast! Beginners can also learn in the standing-depth water. To avoid a future kite ban in the bird sanctuary, stay away from the lagoon towards low tide.
