Rota, Chorrillo

Hotel Playa de la Luz at the western end of long Playa de la Costilla is a popular kite spot. A little reef protects the beach from waves, while there's bump-&-jump a bit further south in front of the buildings at 'Virgen del Mar'. Levante blows gusty cross-offshore, demanding good kite skills. The beach gets narrow at high tide, whereas low water reveals a few rocks. To avoid the offshore winds and too much chop, you can also hit the water out of season in Levante at the city beach of 'Rompidillo' or in Poniente at 'Playa del Chorrillo' by the naval base. Unfortunately, kiting is banned throughout Rota in summer.
