This has long been Dublin’s best break, offering the most powerful waves. South to south-westerly blows cross-shore to deliver decent enough conditions, although the locals privately swear by north-easterly for the biggest waves. Strong winds can mean mast-high – and unlike Dollymount, wave size is independent of tide. Lately, Rush has become very popular with kitesurfers too.
